Chef/owner Chris Brandl, a Johnson and Wales graduate, opened the doors to his namesake restaurant in December 2002 creating a unique dining experience. He has accomplished just that with distinctive dishes such as wild boar chops, Bone-In filet mignon, Hawaiian Spearfish “Nairagi” and grilled Caesar salad, as well as his signature crab cakes.

“Jakes Cakes” is a new venture Brandl is doing… a Crab Cake Sandwich. We will be going all over the state with our mobile concession trailer to prepare the finest crab cake sandwich ever.
Jakes Crab Shack located at 500 Ocean Avenue in Belmar has opened in July 2008. The “Shack” has to offer crab cake sandwiches, kobe beef burgers, lobster rolls, fresh cut fries, to name a few.
The “Shack” also offers breakfast on the weekends. Pancakes, egg sandwiches, fresh orange juice, and not to mention the view.
